Talking Trinity – Confident English for the GESE Exam

Talking Trinity is a speaking-focused series designed to prepare learners for the GESE (Graded Examinations in Spoken English) by Trinity College London. Built around the official GESE syllabus, the series helps students develop the listening and speaking skills they need to succeed in real communication and in the exam.

About GESE

GESE is a globally recognized spoken English test conducted by native English-speaking examiners from the UK. It evaluates a learner’s ability to understand and respond in everyday English. The exam is divided into four stages, each with three grades, aligned with the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).

• Talking Trinity 1 prepares students for Grade 4 (A1 level).
• Talking Trinity 2 prepares students for Grade 5.
• Talking Trinity 3 prepares students for Grade 6.

Course Structure

Each unit follows a clear sequence that builds confidence step by step.

1. Warm-up
Lessons open with a discussion topic that sparks interest and activates prior knowledge. Students look at related images, share ideas, and start talking naturally. This stage sets the tone for the speaking practice that follows.

2. Dialogue Practice
Here, the target language for the lesson is introduced in context. Students practice the language through dialogues in pairs, small groups, or as a whole class. This reinforces pronunciation, fluency, and accurate usage.

3. Discussion Preparation
Learners prepare for extended speaking by following three steps:

• Choosing a discussion topic.
• Creating sentences for each key point.
• Writing questions related to each point.

This process gives students a solid structure for their ideas, making it easier to speak with clarity and confidence.

4. Discussion Practice
In the final stage, students put their preparation into action. They make notes, refer to their outlines, and engage in discussions using the language and strategies learned earlier in the lesson. This not only prepares them for the GESE test format but also improves their ability to converse effectively in real-life situations.

With its practical approach and engaging activities, Talking Trinity goes beyond exam training—it builds lasting speaking skills. Students finish each level with greater fluency, improved listening comprehension, and the confidence to communicate with native and non-native speakers alike.
